When is The Best Time To Visit San Francisco?

Mark Twain once said “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”

Many people have asked me “when is the best time to visit San Francisco?” After living there for 4 years I can tell you with confidence that it is *not* best to come in the summer. The summers are actually cold in San Francisco because of where it is located in the bay, a lot of fog and cold winds come into the city and make it very grey and chilly in the summer. The best time to come in the fall, from September to November. In those months the temperature is the warmest as San Francisco is known to have an “Indian Summer”. That’s also when there are less crowds because it’s not when all the other tourists are there! For more tips on attractions and things to do see my earlier post with the photo of Golden Gate Bridge!
